STANDING RULES

GREATER SIERRA VISTA KENNEL CLUB

Standing Rules reviewed and approved by the General Membership 15 September 2009.

1. 9/18/07 (GM) Membership applications will go from the Recording Secretary to the Corresponding Secretary. The Recording Secretary will include names and addresses in the minutes. The Corresponding Secretary will keep a file, plus publish the names and addresses in the newsletter. The Recording Secretary will give a list of names and addresses to the Treasurer.

2. 11/15/07 (GM) Dues are raised to $20 for individual members and $5 for junior members.

3. 4/11/95 (BD) The Board has an obligation to check references on Member applications. The Board will fulfill this obligation by sending out a form letter to references listed on the application.

4. 6/16/86 (GM) The Treasurer’s Report will be circulated during each meeting and filed after the meeting with the Recording Secretary.

5. 10/21/08 (GM) The Club shall retain at least $5,000.00 in accounts to act as a buffer.

6. 4/6/87 (?) The Club requires an independent yearly audit of the Club books.

7. 8/2/95 (BD) The Treasurer shall submit a report on all expenditures and income from the show within 120 days of each dog show.

8. 4/11/95 (GM) The Board spending ability is limited to $500 per item, excluding show expenses.

9. 2/1/93 (BD) Members will be reimbursed $25.00 for gas when attending a Cluster Committee meeting. Carpools are encouraged.

10. 2/25/85 (?) The GSVKC establishes a Scholarship Fund for a Cochise County High School graduate enrolled in any approved course of study intending to enter a field of animal health care.

11. 9/9/85 (?) The Vice President and the Scholarship Committee will establish the guidelines for administering the Scholarship.

12. 2/21/95 (GM) The Scholarship Fund will be $1,000 a year.

13. 4/10/93 (BD) The Board of Directors meetings will be held on the 1 st Tuesday of the month.

14. 8/20/90 (GM) There will be no General Membership meetings in July or August.

15. 8/20/90 (GM) The Club picnic may be held in June at the discretion of the Board.

16. 9/20/94 (GM) Plaques are to be given to members whose dogs earn an AKC title. Plaques will be presented at our annual meeting. 2/19/08 amendment: Only one plaque per dog will be given for awards won that year.

17. 9/16/08 (GM) The GSVKC will hold two (2) Shows per year.

18. 9/18/07 (GM) The Judge’s Selection Committee will consist of:

22. 6/18/90 (GM) We will have an AKC information booth at our Shows.

23. 3/1/93 (BD) We will continue to run ads in the Sierra Vista Herald.

24. 4/1/91 (?) Nursing home visits are coordinated by the Community Activities Chairman.

25. 2/25/85 (GM) The Club will join the Cochise County Humane Society.

26. 9/20/94 (GM) The GSVKC shall donate $100 annually to the Cochise Humane Society for food and board expenses.

27. 9/18/07 (GM) The Club shall donate one dog-related book and one subscription to the AKC Gazette per year to the City Library.

28. 9/16/08 (GM) The amount allocated for the Spay/Neuter Program is to remain flexible and the Budget Committee will determine a yearly amount.

29. 6/5/95 (GM) Club member’s dogs are excluded from the Club-sponsored Spay/Neuter Program.

30. 9/19/95 (GM) We will have at least one Canine Good Citizen Test per year.

31. 11/21/95 (GM) We require all dogs out of our Purebred Rescue Program to be micro-chipped. The cost will be added to the adoption fee.

32. 9/16/97 (GM) Members who have not paid old debts on trophies cannot donate any new ones until they are paid up. Future donations from these individuals must be made cash up-front.

33. 6/13/97 (GM) There will be a $50 drawing limit.

34. 9/17/02 (GM) The Standing Rules will be reviewed on an annual basis.

35. 9/18/07 (GM) The Show Chairman, Obedience Chairman, Show Photographers, Rally Chairman and Judge’s Hospitality Chairman will not enter or handle a dog at our Shows.

36. 12/4/03 (GM) The Christmas Party drawing will be for $50. Names will be drawn until someone present wins the drawing.

37. 6/12/04 (GM) The drawing at the summer picnic continues until someone present wins.

38. 1/25/06 (BD) A member of GSVKC will attend Cochise County Humane Society monthly meetings as a representative of our Club.

39. 2/7/06 (BD) The Vice President is responsible for securing a Board meeting location and reminding the Board members of each meeting.

40. 5/6/06 (GM) The position of Emergency Response Coordinator is created. This will be a Show Committee position.

41. 9/26/06 (BD) The Constitution and By-Laws will be reviewed every five (5) years. The date of the last review will be noted on the By-Laws.

42. 1/16/07 (GM) Members and guests who make reservations for Club functions and do not cancel by the required date will be billed for that function.

43. 9/15/09 (GM) All annual donations will be paid in the month after the GSVKC yearly budget is approved.
